New Hindsight is a space for reflection, reinvention, and telling the truth about what life actually looks like when it doesn’t follow a traditional script.

I’m a Midwestern transplant now living in California, navigating a life I never quite planned—but fully chose. I’m a partner in a same-sex relationship, a stay-at-home stepmom to five kids, and someone constantly learning what it means to build a family, a home, and an identity outside of expectations.

This blog isn’t about having it all figured out. It’s about looking back and seeing things differently—about growth that only makes sense in hindsight. I write about blended family life, the quiet (and not-so-quiet) realities of step-parenting, love, identity, and the in-between moments that don’t always get talked about.

Some days are messy, some are beautiful, and most are a mix of both. Here, you’ll find honesty over perfection, reflection over performance, and stories that might make you feel a little less alone in your own.

This is New Hindsight—because sometimes understanding comes later, and that’s okay.
